Welcome to the Kronstadt Residency Project 2003-2004, which brought together artists from Russia and other countries (Canada, Germany, the UK and Italy), to spend time on a mysterious island off the coast of St Petersburg. Exploring the island, its 17thC naval base and its unique topography framed the site specific project that took place over two summers, as we explored themes and questions raised by our experiences.
Curated by Gillian McIver and supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the National Centre for Contemporary Art St Petersburg.
Not the project itself is important, but the process or situation is important. Only a Situation can give birth to an Event.
